This opportunity involves working on one of the largest programmes in Saudi Arabia, a major mixed-use development. The project encompasses sports facilities, entertainment venues, arts districts, and all associated infrastructure. Mace serves as a delivery partner, requiring experienced professionals to lead integrated teams across all project phases.

The Role: Senior Health & Safety Manager

Mace is seeking a Senior Health & Safety Manager to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position is critical for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance throughout the project lifecycle, from design to handover. The successful candidate will provide primary HSE oversight and leadership, supporting project teams in mitigating risks and promoting a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the development and implementation of the project HSE strategy and plan during the design phase.
• Review design proposals to identify and mitigate health, safety, and buildability risks through design risk reviews, HAZID, and HAZOP processes.
• Coordinate with the Fire Life Safety consultant to embed HSE considerations into construction planning, logistics strategies, temporary works, and sequencing.
• Contribute to pre-construction planning, risk workshops, and constructability reviews.
• Act as the primary HSE oversight lead during site mobilisation and construction phases.
• Undertake regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks to monitor compliance.
• Monitor Contractor and subcontractor HSE performance across all work fronts.
• Identify unsafe practices, trends, and risks, ensuring timely escalation and corrective action.
• Support the implementation of improvement and recovery actions when performance falls below expectations.
• Promote a proactive, risk-based approach to HSE across the project.
• Foster a collaborative, solutions-focused approach to safety management.
• Support alignment between design, construction, and operational safety requirements.
• Support the project team during testing and commissioning for HSE-related authorities’ approvals for final handover to the client.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Degree qualification in Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Chartered or professional HSE qualification (*, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in construction HSE roles on major projects.
• Proven experience across design and build projects, pre-construction and construction phases, and major commercial or mixed-use developments.
• Experience within delivery partner or Project Management Consultancy (PMC) environments is preferred.
• Ability to meet necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and possess relevant work experience on high-value projects/programmes for a project management consultancy business, as required for immigration and client approval.

Location and Work Type

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role requires on-site presence and active engagement with project teams and contractors throughout all phases of the development.
