We are seeking a Senior OpenStack Engineer to join our Professional Services team in Riyadh, KSA. This full-time, on-site position involves supporting a long-term, high-value engagement focused on managing and optimizing a production-grade OpenStack private cloud environment.

Role Purpose and Expectations

The Senior OpenStack Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of critical cloud infrastructure for our customer. This role operates within compliance-driven, high-security environments and requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams. Candidates are expected to proactively identify potential challenges, advise on pitfalls, and propose alternative solutions to enhance the stability and security of the customer's cloud solution. A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Support, deploy, and manage OpenStack-based private cloud infrastructure, including configuring and maintaining services such as Nova, Neutron, Cinder, and Keystone.
• Implement and manage Kubernetes clusters for container orchestration, deploying and maintaining applications within these environments.
• Integrate OpenStack and Kubernetes technologies to ensure seamless operation, and develop automation scripts and tools for provisioning, monitoring, and scaling cloud resources.
• Monitor system performance, optimize configurations for efficiency, and troubleshoot issues in OpenStack and Kubernetes environments, including SDN OVN networking and performance benchmarking.
• Implement security best practices, ensure compliance, and manage access controls, authentication, and authorization mechanisms within cloud setups.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations and operational procedures, and generate regular reports on system performance, capacity, and utilization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical support for cloud and container environments.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong experience in Linux system administration and proficiency with scripting languages (*, Python, Bash) for automation and management tasks.
• Hands-on experience with OpenStack deployment, configuration, and management.
• Knowledge of Software Defined Storage systems, such as Ceph.
• Understanding of cloud-native principles.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Prior experience in a customer-facing support role.
• Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Certified OpenStack Administrator (COA).

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

• Familiarity with other cloud platforms including VMWare, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) solutions in cloud environments.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible for provisioning and configuration management.
• Understanding of Canonical OpenStack, Juju, and Lxd containers, as well as advanced OpenStack services like Octavia, Designate, and Masakari.
• Knowledge of Charmed Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Elastic search, Logstash, and Kibana monitoring stacks.
• Knowledge of CIS benchmarking.
