Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role

ECEC East Consulting Engineering Company is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves overseeing structural works for the District Mall – ROSHN project, ensuring all aspects comply with design specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes. The role requires a minimum of 10 years of experience.

Role Purpose

The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for the technical review, supervision, and coordination of all structural elements within the project. This includes ensuring the structural integrity of the development and adherence to approved designs, specifications, quality requirements, and relevant building codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Review structural IFC drawings, shop drawings, calculations, material submittals, method statements, and other technical submissions.
• Supervise reinforced concrete, foundations, structural steel, post-tensioned slabs, and other structural works on-site.
• Review reinforcement, formwork, concrete works, structural steel works, and associated construction activities.
• Evaluate structural RFIs, design changes, technical queries, and contractor proposals.
• Coordinate structural works with architectural, MEP, civil, infrastructure, and other relevant disciplines.
• Conduct site inspections and review Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) and Material Inspection Requests (MIRs).
• Review concrete test results, material certificates, laboratory reports, and structural testing results.
• Identify structural defects, discrepancies, and non-conformities, and recommend appropriate corrective or remedial actions.
• Review Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and verify the implementation of corrective actions.
• Monitor contractor performance, workmanship, project progress, and quality standards.
• Ensure full compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), ACI, ASTM, AISC, and other applicable international standards.
• Review as-built drawings and all project close-out documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in structural engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in structural steel works and post-tensioned slab systems on similar large-scale projects.
• Proven experience in large-scale commercial, retail, mixed-use, or major real estate development projects.
• Strong experience in design review, construction supervision, technical coordination, site execution, quality control, and contractor management.
• Strong knowledge of the Saudi Building Code (SBC) and relevant international codes and standards.
• Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) in the appropriate professional classification is required.
