Role Overview
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking an Aircraft Ground Equipment (AGE) Mechanical Supervisor to join its team in Taif. This full-time role involves deputising for a senior company employee within the Typhoon Maintenance Organisation. The Supervisor is responsible for aspects of Aircraft Ground Equipment (AGE), ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The position also carries company line management responsibilities, including providing functional direction, guidance, and ensuring the welfare, health & safety, and discipline of all employees under their control.
The role requires effective leadership for the development, management, and delivery of all activities and personnel within the area of responsibility. The Supervisor will support the Salam Project's success against the Maintenance Support Service contracted Operational Readiness (OR) and Key Performance Measurements (KPM).
Core Responsibilities
- Uphold a safety-first approach, implementing measures and guidelines to protect personnel, product, and operations, while promoting Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) and Product Safety & Environment (PS&E).
- Ensure strict compliance with BAE Systems Operational Framework, Life Cycle Management (LCM) practices, Maintenance & Continuing Airworthiness (M&CA) Mandates, Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), and Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) Logistics Management Regulations (LMR).
- Enhance customer satisfaction by supporting maintenance, airworthiness, safety, and continual improvement, including developing personnel development programs and implementing new processes.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement (CI) throughout the maintenance organisation, encouraging innovative ideas and adapting best industry practices.
- Review and challenge current maintenance practices to identify potential improvements within the organisation.
- Recognise and report any malpractice affecting airworthiness or safety to the Senior Maintenance Manager.
- Ensure necessary manpower and facilities are available in accordance with company policies to meet duties and contractual obligations.
- Monitor personnel standards to identify negative trends, non-conformities, or motivational deficiencies.
- Accountable for all personnel development reports within direct and indirect line management.
- Provide a working environment of trust, ensuring clear understanding of acceptable behaviour as per the company’s “Code of Conduct”.
- Deliver training, consolidation, and counterpart development activities to RSAF and BAE Systems personnel.
- Manage and maintain the operational readiness of shop equipment, including scheduling necessary calibrations and ensuring correct tooling and approved data availability.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are carried out to the highest quality standards, accurately recording work, test results, consumables, and POL on the airworthiness tool (ESS).
- Maintain anti-FOD surveillance and report potential hazards through regular oversight checks.
- Update daily shop status and the TTP131 spreadsheet to support reporting and highlight any deficiencies or delivery issues.
Qualifications and Essential Experience
- A recognised qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or a suitable equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA.
- Post-qualification practical maintenance experience within an operational flying aircraft environment, supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training, OR experience on the same aircraft type.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a proven ability to supervise all levels of engineering personnel.
- Hold a 2nd signature.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
- Broad knowledge of the aerospace and defence industry.
- Previous experience with Typhoon specific Aircraft Ground Equipment.
- An understanding of RAF and/or RSAF engineering operating procedures.
- A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality.
- Prior experience in delivering workplace training.
- Familiarity with ESS or a similar electronic based reporting system.
Work Type and Location
This is a full-time position based in Taif, Saudi Arabia.
