About the Role

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is seeking a Pharmacy Specialist to join their team in Dhahran. This full-time position is central to providing comprehensive patient-centered care, optimizing medication use, and promoting health, wellness, and disease prevention across various healthcare settings.

Role Overview and Impact

The Pharmacy Specialist develops and implements individualized therapeutic regimens based on pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles to achieve cost-effective and desired patient outcomes. This role involves active participation in general patient care rounds with medical staff to optimize pharmacotherapeutic outcomes. Specialists care for patients in all healthcare settings, including inpatient, ambulatory, and clinics, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teams to develop pharmacotherapy protocols and conduct medication use evaluations as assigned by the D AND T subcommittee.
  • Serve as the pharmacy representative for assigned quality improvement teams, unit-based safety projects, or JHAH committees.
  • Participate in service-wide implementation of performance and outcome improvement initiatives to optimize organizational effectiveness, efficiency, and digital transformation.
  • Contribute to JHAH pharmacy branding activities, including publishing articles and posters, serving as a speaker in conferences, and participating in community awareness.
  • Process all applicable medication order related functionalities, such as order verification, pharmacokinetic dosing, therapeutic monitoring, narcotic stewardship, and antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Attend clinical rounds, provide patient-centered pharmaceutical care in decentralized/centralized settings, and conduct patient counseling.
  • Ensure proper documentation of medication review notes, progress notes, workload, and operational reports, including pharmacotherapeutic interventions.
  • Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding related functionalities according to JHAH operational policies.
  • Manage medication stock continuity, including deprescribing programs, narcotic stewardship review, usage patterns, shortage management, and suggesting alternatives.
  • Provide specialized didactic education to pharmacy staff, interns, residents, and other healthcare professionals, and precept pharmacy interns and residents.

Education and Certifications

  • Recognized Pharm D degree by Saudi Arabia or equivalent.
  • OR a Master of Clinical Pharmacy degree.
  • OR a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy with Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS).
  • Professional Certifications Required: SCFHS license and Board Certification in Pharmacy Specialties (BCPS).

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in clinical pharmacy practice for candidates with a Pharm D or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant clinical pharmacy practice for candidates with a Master of Clinical Pharmacy degree.
