About the Junior Sous Chef Role

Delta Hotels and Resorts® is seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join our full-time team in Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This role involves supervising and coordinating kitchen activities to ensure that food quality, presentation, and safety standards are consistently met. The Junior Sous Chef also supports management with staff-related tasks and contributes to maintaining a professional and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and kitchen workers.
• Determine food presentation methods and create decorative food displays.
• Ensure proper portioning, arrangement, and garnishing of food items.
• Monitor the quantity of food prepared and manage kitchen inventory.
• Inform Food & Beverage service staff about menu specials and out-of-stock items.
• Prepare special meals or substitute items as required.
• Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks and provide necessary items.
• Maintain kitchen logs for food safety programs and product tracking.
• Ensure the quality of food items and report any products that do not meet specifications to the manager.
• Support management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
• Adhere to all company, safety, and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions.
• Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance; protect company assets and proprietary information.
• Address guests’ service needs and communicate professionally.
• Foster positive working relationships and support team goals.
• Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards across all kitchen operations.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a kitchen environment is required.

Physical Requirements of the Role

• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
• Capability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
