About the Role

Eram Talent is seeking a Research Technician specializing in Agriculture, Greenhouse, and Field Operations. This full-time position is based in the Makkah region, covering cities such as Jeddah and Makkah, and requires supporting the Interfacial Lab (iLab) at KAUST. The role is ideal for candidates with 0-1 years of experience who are ready to contribute to significant agricultural research projects.

Role Purpose and Context

The Research Technician will play a crucial role in advancing biochar and soil amendment research. This involves hands-on assistance with greenhouse and growth chamber operations, conducting essential laboratory testing, and supporting various field trials. The primary objective is to ensure the successful execution of agricultural research projects through meticulous preparation, monitoring, analysis, and record-keeping.

Key Responsibilities

• Support greenhouse and growth chamber operations, including the setup and maintenance of plant growth experiments.
• Prepare soil substrates with specified biochar amendments, such as CarboSoil, SandX, and superhydrophobic sand, adhering strictly to experimental protocols.
• Monitor plant health, growth conditions, and productivity metrics throughout experimental phases.
• Conduct comprehensive soil and plant sample analyses, including measurements of pH, electrical conductivity (EC), nutrient composition, and water retention.
• Assist with field trials, which encompasses soil preparation, planting, irrigation system setup, soil sampling, and environmental monitoring.
• Maintain accurate laboratory inventory and detailed experimental records to ensure data integrity and traceability.
• Ensure full compliance with all established laboratory safety procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

• 0-1 years of relevant experience in agriculture, greenhouse operations, or laboratory settings.
• Possession of a valid driving license.
• Willingness and ability to work at various field sites as required by research projects.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position primarily supporting research activities at KAUST's Interfacial Lab. The role involves a combination of laboratory work, greenhouse operations, and fieldwork across locations in Jeddah and Makkah, requiring adaptability and a readiness to travel to field sites.
