About the Role

Afaq - Warehouse Branch is seeking a WHS Officer to join its team in Jeddah. This full-time position is ideal for candidates with 0-1 years of experience in the field. The WHS Officer will collaborate with the Site Operations team to implement company safety policies and ensure adherence to all applicable local and regional regulations.

Role Purpose and Objectives

The primary objective of this role is to foster a safe and healthy working environment for associates. The WHS Officer will achieve this by leveraging lean principles and Kaizen methodologies to lead continuous improvement initiatives, thereby reducing conditional and ergonomic risks within operational processes. The role requires building trust and confidence with the Operations team and inspiring positive change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable company WHS Standards and Policies.
• Measure site performance against published safety policy requirements and develop implementation plans for identified deficiencies.
• Deliver projects to Operations in a timely and high-quality manner.
• Analyze safety metrics and review weekly and monthly incident trends to allocate resources effectively to high-risk areas.
• Ensure proper incident investigation and the closure of corrective and preventive actions.
• Perform frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliant equipment and processes, implementing solutions to eliminate risks and prevent injuries.
• Audit record-keeping practices to ensure alignment with global WHS standards and local regulations.
• Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure accuracy and consistency in training, auditing, and scoring methods.
• Lead and mentor safety associates within assigned facilities.
• Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy.
• Audit the quality, delivery (including trainer qualifications), and effectiveness of all required safety training.
• Manage PPE inventory at the site and coordinate with procurement teams to ensure PPE compliance.
• Collaborate with facility teams to ensure preventive maintenance of all fire protection and emergency equipment.
• Ensure requirements for basic Fire Fighting training and first aid training are met.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Excellent knowledge of safety programs, environmental understanding, and ergonomic principles.
• Thorough understanding of local and regional regulations, as well as company policies.

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Ability to build trust and confidence with operational teams.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey clear, concise, and consistent messages.
• A proactive approach to identifying best practices and incorporating standard methodologies for continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated expertise in WHS when collaborating with Operations.

Work Environment and Reporting

This role is part of the WHS team and reports directly to the site WHS manager. The WHS Officer must be flexible to work in shifts, including both days and nights, to support continuous operations. The position is based in Jeddah.
