About the QHSE Specialist Role

Catrion Group is seeking a full-time Specialist in Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) to join our team. This role will be based in Tarib and Dammam. The Specialist will play a crucial part in ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance across various operational areas.

Key Responsibilities in Quality and Food Safety

The Specialist will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining food safety and quality assurance activities within the department. This includes meticulous record-keeping, coordinating with the Site Manager to resolve any emerging issues, and training new Quality Control staff. The role also involves liaising with different unit sections to address food safety and quality assurance concerns based on daily hygiene reports and ensuring laboratory activities, such as sample drawing for food, water, and handprints, are conducted regularly by on-duty Quality Controllers.

Further responsibilities include investigating customer complaints with relevant departments, providing feedback with corrective actions, and delivering comprehensive training programs for all food handlers. Coordination with the medical department for food handler certificates and infection control, as well as conducting hygiene inspections of supplier premises, are also key duties. The Specialist will prepare rosters to ensure continuous coverage of food safety and quality assurance activities and manage the optimal use of stationery, supplies, and laboratory chemicals.

Safety Management and Compliance

In addition to quality and food safety, the Specialist will oversee safety management. This involves conducting safety inspections, preparing reports, and identifying workplace safety training needs. Maintaining awareness of active and developing safety situations, assisting accident investigation teams, and conducting on-the-job training, toolbox talks, and safety brief awareness sessions are integral to this aspect of the role. The Specialist will also inspect the site to ensure a hazard-free environment, verify the adequacy and safety of tools and equipment, promote safe practices, enforce safety guidelines, and respond to employee safety concerns.

Operational Support and Administration

The role requires coordination with the Site Manager regarding the annual department budget. The Specialist will also act as Site Manager during their absence and complete any other related tasks assigned. The position may require covering different remote locations as per work needs.
