About the Sr. Engineer Operation Role

Marafiq, a leading integrated utility service provider in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is seeking a Sr. Engineer Operation to join their team in Al Madinah. This full-time position focuses on overseeing the operation and processes of the Gas Network to ensure reliability, safety, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. The role is based in Yanbu and Medina, contributing to the company's mission of supporting Saudi Vision 2030 through sustainable energy solutions.

Role Purpose and Scope

The Sr. Engineer Operation is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of the Gas Network's operations and related activities. This includes providing essential technical support to maintain the integrity and performance of gas assets and systems. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational issues, ensuring adherence to all relevant standards, and contributing to the overall efficiency and sustainability of the gas network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review operating parameters, readings, records, and trends to identify and address abnormalities or potential problems.
  • Conduct studies on chronic problems and propose strategic solutions in coordination with operations and maintenance teams.
  • Analyze gas billing reports to ensure accurate accounting of delivered gas and proper customer billing.
  • Review planned expansions, including connection points and methodologies, to ensure no adverse impact on the gas network's safe operation.
  • Evaluate gas connection project design submittals from an operational perspective.
  • Approve the planned installation of other utilities across or parallel to gas pipelines to maintain network safety.
  • Ensure routine tests are conducted according to schedule and established standards.
  • Maintain the technical sustainability of the gas network by staying updated on the latest gas distribution technologies and processes.
  • Recommend procedural improvements and direct the implementation of controls for specific gas network activities.
  • Witness testing and commissioning of equipment post-shutdown to verify maintenance effectiveness.
  • Monitor operational activities for efficiency and adherence to procedures and policy.
  • Propose solutions for complex logistical and technical challenges.
  • Monitor efficiencies and establish KPIs for O&M, ensuring accurate capture and reporting.
  • Study and recommend the applicability of new technologies and processes for operational improvement.
  • Review, analyze, prepare, and monitor the departmental annual budget.
  • Coordinate with Marafiq stakeholders to implement strategic plans and network requirements.
  • Liaise with the Engineering/TSD Department for advice on enhancing network efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental management policies and procedures.
  • Respond to emergencies as a Technical Committee member to mitigate risks to plant, equipment, and personnel.
  • Monitor the implementation of the Work Permit System as an Authorized Permit Controller.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical, Chemical, or Instrument.
  • 8-10 years of experience in Operation & Maintenance or Process Engineering within a Gas Transmission or Distribution facility.
  • Experience with Gas Measurement technologies and processes.
  • Experience in Gas Pipeline and Metering skid Project management and design review.
  • Experience with SAP System.
  • Experience in interpreting Hydraulic calculations.
  • Experience in Gas Standards implementation and application.

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time position located in Al Madinah, with responsibilities spanning Yanbu and Medina.
