About the Executive Housekeeper Role
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah, Medina, is seeking an Executive Housekeeper I. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring that guest rooms, public spaces, and employee areas are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and order. The role involves direct supervision of staff, inspection of work, and management of departmental costs to achieve budget goals while contributing to overall guest and employee satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily shift operations for housekeeping, and if applicable, recreation/health club and laundry.
- Direct and work with employees to ensure guest rooms, public spaces, and employee areas are clean and well-maintained.
- Conduct inspections and hold staff accountable for corrective actions.
- Ensure guest room status is communicated efficiently to the Front Desk.
- Collaborate with the Engineering department on guestroom maintenance needs.
- Supervise the property's general cleaning schedule and daily housekeeping shift operations.
- Prepare work assignments based on room status and prospective check-outs.
- Manage inventory of supplies to ensure adequate stock levels and assist in ordering guestroom supplies, cleaning supplies, and uniforms.
- Support and supervise an effective inspection program for all guestrooms and public spaces.
- Communicate areas needing attention to staff and ensure understanding and follow-up.
- Ensure all employees have the proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
Financial and Service Management
This role involves actively participating in the management of the department’s controllable expenses to meet or exceed budgeted goals. Understanding the impact of departmental operations on the property's overall financial objectives is crucial. The Executive Housekeeper will comprehend budgets, operating statements, and payroll reports to assist in financial management. Additionally, the position requires responding to and handling guest problems and complaints, striving to improve service performance, and empowering employees to provide excellent customer service, with an emphasis on guest satisfaction and continuous improvement.
Human Resources and Team Development
The Executive Housekeeper will participate in employee accident investigations as needed and supervise staffing levels to meet guest service, operational, and financial objectives. Ensuring employees understand expectations and parameters, and that property policies are administered fairly and consistently, is a key function. This includes completing disciplinary procedures and documentation according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and supporting the Peer Review Process. The role involves observing employee service behaviors, providing feedback, utilizing on-the-job training tools for new room attendants, and participating in the employee performance appraisal process. Assistance with interviewing and hiring team members with appropriate skills, and supporting departmental orientation programs, are also required.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or GED; 2 years of experience in housekeeping or a related professional area.
- Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major, with no work experience required.
Work Location and Type
This is a full-time position located in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah. The role requires a minimum of 2 years and up to 5 years of relevant experience.
