About WSP in the Middle East

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced HSE Inspector to join our supervision team in Medina (Al Madinah). This role is integral to a major transportation and infrastructure project, focusing on ensuring robust Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

The Role: HSE Inspector Saudi National

As a full-time HSE Inspector, you will be responsible for monitoring and enforcing HSE compliance across various utility, road, transportation, and civil infrastructure works. The position requires 5-10 years of relevant experience, ensuring adherence to project specifications, local regulations, international standards, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with project HSE requirements, client standards, and Saudi regulations.
Monitor construction activities related to roads, highways, utility corridors, underground services, drainage networks, transportation infrastructure, and associated civil works.
Verify implementation of approved HSE plans, procedures, method statements, and risk assessments.
Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and environmental concerns, and ensure timely corrective actions.
Review and monitor permit-to-work systems, excavation permits, confined space activities, lifting operations, and traffic management measures.
Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness campaigns across project sites.
Monitor contractor compliance with project HSE requirements and recommend corrective measures where necessary.
Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with site safety procedures.
Maintain inspection records, HSE observations, audit reports, and safety statistics.
Participate in HSE audits, emergency preparedness drills, and management site walks.
Coordinate with Resident Engineers, Discipline Inspectors, Contractors, and Client representatives on HSE matters.
Support environmental compliance initiatives including waste management, dust control, noise monitoring, and pollution prevention measures.

Required Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background with 5-10 years of experience working with Engineering Consultants, PMC, or Construction Supervision Consultants. This experience must be specifically on large-scale infrastructure and utility projects. Experience limited to building construction projects will not be considered for this role.

Project Focus and Collaboration

This position is focused on critical infrastructure development, requiring a comprehensive understanding of HSE practices within complex utility, road, transportation, and civil works environments. The role involves close collaboration with various project stakeholders, including Resident Engineers, Discipline Inspectors, Contractors, and Client representatives, to ensure integrated HSE management.
