About the Role of Pharmacist I

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre is seeking a Pharmacist I to join their team in Medina. This full-time role involves verifying medication orders, preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications, and providing patient counseling. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience and operates in accordance with accepted standards and established pharmacy policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, and process medication orders, ensuring accuracy regarding demographic data (*, gender, age, weight), appropriateness of therapy, dose, frequency, route, dosage form, interactions, allergies, related laboratory values, and potential drug interactions.
• Advise and counsel patients, answering questions about medications, including indications, possible side effects, and interactions among different drugs relevant to the area of practice.
• Document interventions, recommendations, and clarifications within the electronic Health Information System as applicable.
• Maintain control and security of all medications, including controlled and narcotic substances and supplies, ensuring dispensing and record-keeping adhere to laws and regulations.
• Provide comprehensive drug information to all healthcare providers, covering aspects such as drug selection, dosage, interactions, monitoring, and side effects.
• Supervise, precept, check, and monitor medication-related activities and performance of junior pharmacists, residents, trainees, and students.
• Assist and guide healthcare providers with issues related to medication management and system use.
• Participate in and assist with conducting performance and quality improvement projects.
• Adhere to all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures.
• Contribute to self and others' education, training, and development as applicable.

Required Experience and Qualifications

Candidates for the Pharmacist I position should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in pharmacy practice. The role requires a strong understanding of medication verification, preparation, compounding, and dispensing processes, along with the ability to provide effective patient counseling.
