Role Overview and Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for critically evaluating scientific manuscripts submitted for publication. Your assessment will contribute to maintaining the quality and integrity of research within the field of Genetics and Heredity. Key responsibilities include:

• Assessing the originality and novelty of submitted manuscripts, determining their contribution to the field.
• Evaluating the appropriateness, comprehensiveness, and clarity of study designs and methodologies to ensure reproducibility.
• Verifying that manuscripts thoroughly incorporate and cite relevant, up-to-date research.
• Analyzing the clarity and appropriateness of results presentation, and ensuring conclusions are data-supported and significant.
• Providing clear, concise, and constructive feedback, highlighting any flaws, omissions, or ethical concerns.
• Making recommendations regarding manuscript publication status (acceptance, revision, or rejection) to the journal editor.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:

• Possession of a Doctorate (PhD) or an equivalent advanced degree in Genetics, Heredity, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience.
• A record of publishing at least 5 papers in SCI/SSCI journals within the past three years.
• A thorough understanding of research methodologies and ethical principles pertinent to the discipline.
• Prior experience as a peer reviewer for academic journals is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with online manuscript submission and review systems.
