About the Opportunity

Aljomaih Energy & Water (AEW) is seeking a highly experienced Plant Manager to lead the full operation and maintenance of a 1,980 MW CCGT power plant (Taiba 2) in Medina, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves ensuring operational readiness, compliance, staff management, and performance reporting under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SPPC, reporting directly to the O&M Board.

Company and Project Background

Aljomaih Energy & Water (AEW) is a rapidly expanding investor, lead developer, and operator of utility and infrastructure projects across various geographical markets, including KSA, GCC, Asia, and North Africa. Established in 2007 as a subsidiary of Aljomaih Holding Company, AEW focuses on enabling sustainable, social, and economic progress. The company holds investments in 6 GW of Conventional and Solar power plants and approximately 700,000 m3/day of water capacity.

AEW, in a consortium with EDF, Ajlan & Bros., and Buhur for Investment Company, is developing new gas-fired CCGT power plants on a build, own, and operate (BOO) basis. The Taiba 2 IPP and Qassim 2 IPP projects will each comprise all facilities necessary for power generation with a total net capacity of 1,980 MW. The Initial Commercial Operation Date (ICOD) is scheduled for May 31, 2026, with the Scheduled Project Commercial Operation Date (SCOD) on May 31, 2027. Each Project Company will sell power capacity and output to SPPC under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide design review, construction, and commissioning period support to the Owner.
• Ensure operational readiness prior to takeover from the Owner/EPC.
• Mobilize, train, and support O&M staff.
• Establish plant policies and procedures, and implement a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Obtain all necessary consents, permits, approvals, and licenses.
• Source and select suppliers; manage inventory of materials and supplies.
• Lead and oversee the operation and maintenance of the Power Plant, adhering to HSE and O&M Agreement standards.
• Develop and manage the Annual and Long-term Operating Plan, ensuring reliability, profitability, and operational efficiency.
• Prepare budgets, conduct monthly analysis of O&M revenues and expenses, and implement required mitigations.
• Comply with accounting principles and maintain proper books and records in accordance with legal requirements.
• Schedule and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Manage risks.
• Manage contracts and ensure compliance.
• Handle delegation of authority.
• Identify opportunities to enhance revenues and profit margins.
• Provide monthly and annual reports on plant performance, incidents, failures, and general operation and maintenance activities.
• Report accurately and timely to the Board/Owner and maintain regular communication.
• Develop and nurture strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including lenders, contract counterparties, insurers, partners, suppliers, OEM companies, and regulatory/government authorities.
• Establish and maintain community relations.

Candidate Profile

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of power plants, with a focus on large-scale CCGT facilities.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing plant operations, ensuring compliance, and overseeing performance reporting.
• Experience with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and stakeholder management in the energy sector.

Work Environment and Reporting

This is a full-time position based in Medina, Saudi Arabia. The Plant Manager will report directly to the O&M Board, overseeing the operations of the Taiba 2 power plant within a dynamic and growing energy sector.
