About the Role

Perle, an AI infrastructure company specializing in expert-driven training data, is seeking a freelance Transcriptionist fluent in Sinhalese. This is a remote, paid contract position open to qualified contributors globally.

Role Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for transcribing audio recordings featuring two distinct speakers in Sinhalese. The recordings are channel-separated, meaning each speaker's audio is on a separate channel. Your task is to produce accurate, sequentially ordered transcripts that include speaker labels and timestamps.

Key Responsibilities

• Listen to 2-speaker audio recordings in Sinhalese.
• Transcribe the spoken content accurately and in its entirety.
• Assign speaker labels (Speaker 1 or Speaker 2) corresponding to the audio channel.
• Insert timestamps at the beginning of each speaker turn in HH:MM:SS format.
• Ensure transcripts are sequential and free of unexplained gaps.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Native or near-native fluency in Sinhalese, both spoken and written.
• Strong command of written Sinhalese, including accurate spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
• Ability to work independently and meet daily output targets.
• Access to a computer with a stable internet connection.
• Availability for at least 4 hours per day.
• Prior transcription experience is beneficial but not mandatory; all applicants must pass a qualification test.

Project Details and Quality Standards

This is a manual audio transcription project requiring approximately 4 hours of work per day with a flexible schedule. Onboarding begins as soon as candidates qualify. Transcripts will be evaluated based on a Word Error Rate (WER) of 5% or less and zero speaker label errors. Feedback will be provided promptly, and transcripts not meeting the quality threshold will be returned for correction.
