The Dental Assistant Role

We are seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to join our full-time team in Al-Ahsa. This role is central to supporting dental physicians and ensuring a seamless patient experience, contributing to the overall quality of care within the dental clinic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, screen, interview, and register patients, including taking and recording vital signs, and screening for fall and pain risks.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding care and procedures.
  • Assist physicians with routine medical and dental procedures, aligning with training and competency.
  • Ensure patient privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and serviceability of unit facilities and equipment, arranging for necessary maintenance and repair.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments for patients as directed by the clinic physician.
  • Assist and transport patients for admission when required.
  • Verify the functionality and availability of instruments and equipment in each clinic, reporting any defects to the Charge/Dental supervisor.
  • Order and manage inventories of supplies to support daily clinical and administrative operations.
  • Collaborate effectively with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Adhere strictly to hospital policies and the proper chain of command.
  • Participate in Dental Assistant activities and continuous education programs as advised.
  • Comply with all infection control standards.
  • Assist with interpreting for non-Arabic speaking physicians when necessary, if fluent in Arabic.
  • Prepare monthly census reports as requested.
  • Engage in accreditation activities and attend unit meetings.
  • Provide personalized, coordinated care, support, and treatment for patients and their families, treating them with dignity, compassion, and respect.
  • Involve patients in decisions and empower them to take actions to support their own health.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Undergraduate of a nursing program.
  • One year of clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated in-house training and competency.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in patient registration and documentation procedures.
  • Solid knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Understanding of clinical operations and procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic patient assessment and facilitate referrals.
  • Effective, compassionate communication skills, with the ability to build trust with diverse patient backgrounds.
  • Empathy, sensitivity, and emotional flexibility to support patients and families during challenging situations.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple patients simultaneously.
