About the Occupational Therapist Role

Almoosa Health Group is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join its team in Al-Ahsa, Eastern Province. This full-time role focuses on empowering patients to develop, recover, or maintain essential daily living and work skills through tailored therapeutic interventions. The successful candidate will contribute to enhancing patient independence and overall quality of life within a professional healthcare environment.

Role Purpose and Patient Care

The primary purpose of this position is to assist patients in improving their basic motor functions and reasoning abilities. The Occupational Therapist will guide patients through various activities, ranging from using a computer to performing daily self-care tasks such as dressing, cooking, and eating, thereby supporting their journey towards greater autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help patients develop, recover, or maintain daily living and work skills.
  • Aid patients in improving their basic motor functions and reasoning abilities.
  • Assist patients in performing all types of activities, including computer use and daily needs such as dressing, cooking, and eating.
  • Incorporate physical exercises to increase patients’ strength and dexterity.
  • Utilize advanced modalities to help patients improve decision-making, abstract reasoning, problem-solving, perceptual skills, memory, sequencing, and coordination.
  • Instruct patients with permanent disabilities in the use of adaptive equipment, such as wheelchairs and orthotics.
  • Design or make special equipment needed at home or work.
  • Arrange employment, evaluate work environments, plan work activities, and assess patient progress; collaborate with patients and employers to modify work environments for successful completion of tasks.
  • Assess patients’ home, work, or classroom environments for hazards and recommend restorative or safety adaptations.
  • Provide guidance to family members and caregivers on safe and effective methods of caring for individuals.
  • Evaluate patient progress and prepare detailed reports.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on the assignment setting.

Qualifications and Education

  • A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
  • Previous experience in occupational therapy is considered advantageous.

Required Skills and Personal Attributes

  • Excellent communication skills, characterized by tolerance, patience, sensitivity, and tact.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong competence in building rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds and communicating effectively with their relatives.
