About Air Products and the HYCO Supervisor Role

Air Products is seeking a HYCO Supervisor to join our team in Al Jubail, Eastern region, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is critical for managing and supervising the operations staff, including Boardman, Lead Operators, and Field Operators, at a facility featuring two HYCO Steam Methane Reformers, one Off-Gas PSA facility, and a Hydrogen Import Pipeline Facility.

Role Scope and Operational Leadership

The HYCO Supervisor is accountable for the day-to-day shift operations, ensuring daily production targets are met, and maintaining safe and reliable site operations through effective interface with Maintenance and Engineering teams. This role involves active engagement in all plant operations, ensuring tasks are performed safely, and providing leadership to the operations team during various plant activities, including startups, shutdowns, and emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise operations staff, ensuring proper training and adherence to operational procedures.
  • Oversee daily shift operations, including customer production meetings and achieving operational targets.
  • Prepare and implement safety work permits, LOTO, and complete operations preventative maintenance activities.
  • Assist maintenance and engineering teams in preparing and executing corrective maintenance activities.
  • Provide direction and guidance to staff for the HYCO Steam Methane Reformer unit and ancillary equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements and CM/PM tasks.
  • Maintain accurate document control and monitor quality assurance initiatives.
  • Manage plant production efficiently based on data-driven decisions to meet safety, reliability, and profitability targets.
  • Collaborate with shift, site management, maintenance, and engineering teams to achieve production targets and optimal energy efficiency.
  • Participate in and lead incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis, identifying and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Act as the Single Point of Contact for internal HYCO unit issues, coordinating internal resources.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customer counterparts from other Refinery Units to align expectations for product demand.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Chemical Process Operations is preferred; an associate technical degree (2-year certificate) will be considered based on extensive experience and competence.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in operations, engineering, and/or maintenance within the gas, petrochemical, or related industries.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a line supervision role of process operations.
  • Demonstrated HYCO knowledge is a significant advantage.
  • Proven coordination experience in a multi-team environment, including operations, engineering, and maintenance.

  • Extensive technical knowledge in operations, engineering, and maintenance activities.
  • Proficiency in English speaking and writing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local environmental and health and safety requirements.
