Job Description

About the Role

ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Al-Jubail is seeking a Lead Engineer, Standardization & Methods to join their team in Al Jubail. This full-time role is central to translating global operational strategies into practical, standardized technical methods at the station level. The Lead Engineer will ensure that the "Standard Way of Working" is both physically feasible and technically sound across production lines.

Role Context and Purpose

This position acts as the industrial translator for the department, focusing on the detailed creation, documentation, and field validation of technical standards. While the Lead Champion defines the global strategy, this role is responsible for ensuring the practical application and technical integrity of these standards within the operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author and maintain "Global Standard OEx Policies" for all operational procedures, ensuring synchronization with the RFQ-to-RFS value stream.
  • Conduct Time & Motion studies and Line Balancing to define Takt Time and Standard Work sequences for complex production lines.
  • Translate Lean/Six Sigma principles into specific, actionable instructions for shop-floor personnel.
  • Serve as the primary technical analyst for the "Lean Gate" process, auditing new equipment designs for ergonomics, flow, and Poka-Yoke compliance before commissioning.
  • Define global technical specifications for jigs, fixtures, and workstations to ensure consistent quality and cycle times across plants.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Industrialization teams to ensure new product concepts are manufacturable within existing global standards.
  • Conduct regular "Standard Work Audits" at the plant level to identify deviations between global technical standards and actual shop-floor execution.
  • Lead the technical resolution of non-conformances found during audits, working with local plant engineers to realign methods with global standards.
  • Ensure that "Methods of Operation" in the ERP/SAP system (routings, labor times, material consumption) accurately reflect physical production realities.
  • Lead mid-to-high complexity Lean projects (Kaizen events) focused on reducing cycle times, scrap, and rework in bottleneck areas.
  • Identify and document local technical wins or process innovations for the "Global Best Practice Library."
  • Serve as the lead trainer for plant-level Methods Engineers and Team Leaders, enhancing their technical competency in work measurement, process stabilization, and standardization.
  • Drive OEE improvement in availability and performance through optimized methods.
  • Contribute to the reduction of the gap between "Theoretical Takt Time" and "Actual Cycle Time."
  • Execute Audit Compliance for plants, focusing on processes with defined "Methods & Standards" aligned with OEx policy.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates should possess 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply Lean/Six Sigma principles in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Time & Motion studies and Line Balancing.
  • Proficiency in ERP/SAP systems for managing operational methods.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Al Jubail, requiring active engagement with shop-floor operations and collaboration with various technical and operational teams across different plants.

Requirements
