About the Lead NCS Engineer Role

Yokogawa is seeking a Lead NCS Engineer to join its team in Al Khobar, Eastern region. This full-time role requires a professional with over 10 years of experience in industrial automation, PLCs, HMIs, and large-scale SCADA packages. The Lead NCS Engineer will be responsible for designing and validating SCADA and RTU engineering solutions, leading engineering teams, and ensuring adherence to technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of SCADA and RTU engineering solutions, including feasibility testing and validation.
  • Develop scalable SCADA layouts, HMI graphics philosophies, alarm management strategies, and database links, utilizing technical documentation such as P&IDs, FLDs, Logic Diagrams, and C&E matrices.
  • Direct engineering teams, mentor junior staff, and establish coding and technical standards across multiple sites. Review and validate design inputs, identifying discrepancies for corrective actions.
  • Contribute to the analysis of information, drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and evaluating their effectiveness within the engineering discipline.
  • Conduct inspections with customers to assess the quality of engineering works or the integrity of existing installations, providing recommendations for remedial actions.
  • Proactively identify issues or needs, establishing potential causes, barriers, and related concerns.
  • Support Project and Control Managers in achieving required outcomes by managing relationships with contract service providers within established contract management plans.
  • Utilize established knowledge management systems to ensure the implementation of lessons learned from previous projects.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Automation.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in industrial automation, PLCs, HMIs, and large-scale SCADA packages, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead position. Preferred experience with Yokogawa CI Server, FAST/TOOLS, and STARDOM.

Essential Skills

  • Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC UA/DA, DNP3, IEC 61850) and data historians. Strong knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, including international standards and implementations.
  • Engineering Proficiency: Ability to independently achieve engineering development targets, produce technical engineering specifications, and test/evaluate engineering outcomes.
  • Planning & Compliance: Competence in developing action plans based on recommendations and requirements. Comprehensive knowledge of regulations and policies, with the ability to interpret and apply them, and guide others.
  • Problem-Solving: Skilled in managing complexity by analyzing intricate, high-volume, and sometimes contradictory information to solve problems effectively, exploring underlying issues and root causes.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication abilities to explain technical concepts to non-technical managers and clients. Collaborative mindset for dispute resolution.
