Shift Chemist

About the Role

Acwa China is seeking a Shift Chemist to join their team in Al Qurayyat, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves conducting qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses and experiments in laboratories to support quality and process control, as well as to contribute to the development of new products or knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety rules and regulations, maintaining full awareness of plant safety hazards.
• Familiarize with regulatory requirements for environmental compliance, plant chemicals, MSDS, P&IDs, SOPs, Work Instructions, and emergency procedures.
• Manage all laboratory activities, including chemical sampling and analysis, ensuring parameters are within limits.
• Coordinate with the Shift Charge Engineer/Supervisor during plant start-up, shutdown, and normal operations to maintain chemistry control across shifts.
• Perform quality inspections of all incoming chemicals.
• Prepare for and execute acid cleaning of Desalination and Hypo plants under the Chief Chemist's supervision when required.
• Ensure proper housekeeping of laboratory equipment and manage spillages.
• Conduct troubleshooting for chemical dosing systems and laboratory equipment, following up on maintenance based on defect reports.
• Maintain chemical consumption records and coordinate with the stores department.
• Monitor chemical parameters, record periodic readings on log sheets, and summarize shift activities in the log book.
• Prepare monthly and other reports related to the supervised area.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience is required for this position.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses.
• Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and safety protocols.

Work Environment

This role requires readiness to work in a remote location within Saudi Arabia.
