The Role of Senior Electrical Engineer

Egis (KSA) is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a permanent position in Al Ula. This role involves providing oversight, coordination, and construction supervision support for electrical works within AlUla's infrastructure and development projects. The Senior Electrical Engineer ensures that all electrical works comply with approved designs, specifications, Saudi regulations, authority requirements, international standards, project quality requirements, and approved construction programs. The position requires close collaboration with the Resident Engineer, Project Manager, contractors, supervision consultants, designers, utility providers (SEC), authorities, and other engineering disciplines to facilitate successful delivery, testing, commissioning, and handover of electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior technical oversight for electrical works during construction, testing, commissioning, and handover stages.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, method statements, material submissions, shop drawings, and technical proposals for compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor the installation of electrical infrastructure, including HV/MV/LV networks, substations, transformers, switchgear, and distribution systems.
  • Coordinate electrical works with civil, utilities, roads, architectural, mechanical, ICT, and other project disciplines.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure adherence to approved IFC drawings, specifications, approved materials, and relevant standards.
  • Coordinate interfaces with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and other relevant utility providers and authorities.
  • Support the Project Manager/Resident Engineer in obtaining necessary technical and authority approvals for construction.
  • Monitor contractor progress against the approved program and identify electrical activities that may impact project milestones or critical interfaces.
  • Monitor testing and commissioning activities, verifying that required inspections, tests, and documentation are completed before handover.
  • Review electrical snagging/punch-list items and monitor their closure.
  • Support the review of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, testing and commissioning records, and final handover documentation.
  • Maintain professional communication with the Client, contractors, consultants, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform other electrical engineering duties as required for the successful delivery of assigned AlUla projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction supervision and coordination of electrical works for infrastructure and development projects.
  • Strong understanding of Saudi regulations, authority requirements, and international standards related to electrical installations.

Work Environment

This is a permanent position based in Al Ula, Saudi Arabia, involving work on significant infrastructure and development projects. The role requires collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders, including government entities and utility providers.
