About Aljomaih Energy & Water and the Role
Aljomaih Energy & Water is seeking a Maintenance Lead Engineer - Mechanical to join their team in Ash Shimasiyah, Al Qassim Province. This full-time role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing maintenance operations for mechanical systems and equipment within a large-scale combined cycle power plant. The successful candidate will lead a team, provide technical support, manage projects, and ensure compliance and continuous improvement across all mechanical maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement inspection, maintenance, and repair schedules for mechanical systems including gas and steam turbines, generators, condensers, Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG), pumps, compressors, HVAC, and other ancillary systems. Ensure necessary tooling and third-party certifications are in place.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of mechanical maintenance engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting and problem resolution, conduct root cause analysis of mechanical failures, and implement corrective measures. Deliver in-house training to enhance team skills.
- Plan and oversee mechanical maintenance projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion. Coordinate with other departments (operations, electrical, and instrumentation) to minimize operational disruption.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager with annual budget preparation and effective resource allocation. Monitor costs and identify reduction opportunities without compromising safety or reliability.
- Manage procurement and storage of spare parts and consumables, including preparing purchase requisitions, performing technical evaluations of quotations, and ensuring adequate inventory for efficient operation.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and initiate safety improvement programs, adhering to corporate and site-specific procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory. Prepare detailed reports on maintenance work, performance metrics, and project status. Develop, implement, and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Identify and implement improvement initiatives in mechanical maintenance processes and workflows, staying current with industry trends, advancements in technology, and maintenance best practices.
Pre-PCOD (Provisional Certificate of Operational Date) Responsibilities
- Support the Owner during the design review phase, installation, commissioning, testing, and trial operation period.
- Review and finalize O&M manuals and the initial spare parts list.
- Develop the Master Equipment List and implement the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Identify spares and maintenance strategies based on equipment criticality studies.
- Prepare site-specific maintenance procedures and Work Instructions.
- Ensure the maintenance team is authorized as Permit Receivers and that subcontracts are placed in a timely manner.
- Ensure readiness for the operational period by verifying staff training and the establishment of all required O&M systems and processes.
- Confirm the plant is fit for purpose for takeover, designed, built, commissioned, and tested according to the EPC Contract and other Project Agreements.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, specifically within a large-scale combined cycle power plant. Experience with IPP (Independent Power Producer) and Siemens GT (Gas Turbine) is preferred.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading maintenance teams, coupled with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical maintenance systems, reliability engineering, and condition monitoring techniques.
- Software Knowledge: Familiarity with maintenance management software (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in Ash Shimasiyah, Al Qassim Province, within a dynamic power plant environment.
