Unit Head of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

About the Role

Al Qaryan Group is seeking a Unit Head of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to oversee plant machinery, heavy equipment reliability, and operational efficiency within the ferrous and non-ferrous recycling industry. This full-time executive role, based in Dammam, Eastern Province, focuses on integrating heavy industrial operations management with continuous improvement methodologies. The successful candidate will optimize shredders, balers, and sorting systems while ensuring high safety standards and minimal equipment breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead strategic equipment and TPM initiatives, including empowering operators for autonomous maintenance (cleaning, lubricating, inspecting heavy machinery).
• Minimize downtime for critical assets such as industrial shredders, eddy currents, optical sorters, shears, and balers.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for chronic equipment failures and implement permanent engineering solutions.
• Oversee operations and production management, including inbound processing, sorting, grading, and shredding flows for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Total Effective Equipment Performance (TEEP).
• Manage workforce schedules and cross-functional teams across various departments, including non-ferrous recovery plants.
• Ensure strict quality control for metal purity levels to meet mill specifications and global market standards.
• Manage raw scrap intake, Work-In-Progress (WIP), and outbound shipments of processed commodities.
• Enforce rigorous OSHA/HSE standards relevant to heavy scrap yards, including traffic management, molten metal protocols, and radiation checks.
• Champion 5S workplace organization methodologies and ensure compliance with local and federal environmental laws regarding hazardous and non-hazardous scrap management.

Job Context

The Unit Head will utilize Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) as the primary management framework. A core objective of this role is to eliminate the "Six Big Losses," which include breakdowns, setup time, minor stops, speed loss, defects, and startup losses, to enhance overall operational efficiency and productivity.

Qualifications and Requirements

• 5-10 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial operations, preferably within the recycling industry.
• Demonstrated experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies.
• Proficiency in equipment reliability, root cause analysis, and process optimization.
• Strong understanding of quality control, inventory management, and safety/environmental compliance.
