About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a dedicated HSE Advisor for a full-time position based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This role is integral to an ongoing Property & Building Supervision Project, focusing on ensuring robust health, safety, and environmental standards across project sites.

Role Overview

The HSE Advisor will be responsible for managing and overseeing all health, safety, and environmental arrangements for the project. This involves ensuring compliance with WSP's HSEQ Management System, legal requirements, and client specifications to protect personnel and maintain a safe working environment throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage health, safety, and environmental arrangements for the project in accordance with the WSP HSEQ Management System requirements, ensuring the protection of personnel.
• Oversee HSE Inspectors to ensure effective monitoring of health and safety implementation at project site level, adhering to legal and client mandates.
• Develop and deliver health, safety, and environmental training to WSP employees, including but not limited to induction and safe working practices.
• Review and approve contractor’s health, safety, and environmental plans, risk assessments, and method statements against legal and client requirements prior to work commencement.
• Conduct daily morning site visits across project sites to confirm health and safety measures are in place before work begins.
• Perform weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor personnel, ensuring all corrective and preventive actions are closed out.
• Organise and facilitate HSE meetings with clients, WSP project staff, and contractors.
• Initiate and test emergency response plans, ensuring drills are carried out as per the project schedule and performance standards.
• Ensure HSE Inspectors follow up on contractor’s incident investigation reports, verifying completion and closure of corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and provide necessary technical guidance for accident protection.
• Conduct regular site safety reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in Health, Safety, and Environment management. Demonstrated experience within property and building supervision projects is preferred. A strong understanding of HSEQ Management Systems, legal compliance, and incident investigation protocols is essential.

Work Setting

This is a full-time position located in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The role requires regular presence on project sites and active collaboration with various stakeholders, including WSP project staff, clients, and contractors.
