About the Role
King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre is seeking an Assistant Consultant in Critical Care to join their team in Medina. This full-time position involves providing comprehensive medical care within the critical care field and supervising junior medical staff.
Clinical Responsibilities
The Assistant Consultant will support the Consultant in delivering high-quality patient care in Critical Care, adhering to hospital standards. This includes providing direct patient management, responding to consultations in a timely manner, and ensuring the accurate and timely completion of medical records. The role also requires participation in on-call duties and conducting daily rounds to facilitate patient discharge planning, ensuring discharge orders are prepared at least 24 hours in advance.
- Assisting the Consultant in critical care patient management.
- Providing high-quality patient care within approved clinical privileges.
- Responding to inpatient and emergency room consultations promptly.
- Ensuring timely, accurate, and legible medical record completion.
- Providing on-call service with adherence to hospital response time policies.
- Conducting daily rounds and ensuring discharge orders are placed 24 hours prior to discharge.
- Performing other assigned clinical duties related to the specialty.
Academic and Supervisory Duties
This role includes significant academic responsibilities, such as orienting, training, and supervising interns, residents, and fellows. The Assistant Consultant is expected to actively participate in departmental educational activities and training programs. Further engagement includes attending national and international medical conferences to maintain and enhance professional knowledge and meet continuing education requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have graduated from a recognized medical school and completed the required postgraduate training in Critical Care or a related subspecialty. Eligibility requires Saudi/American Board, Canadian/UK certification, or an equivalent qualification as determined by the Medical Staff Credentialing Committee. A minimum of two (2) years of postgraduate training in the specialty and subspecialty, followed by post-training experience, is mandatory.
- Graduation from a recognized medical school.
- Completion of required postgraduate training in specialty and/or subspecialty.
- Saudi/American Board, Canadian/UK certification, or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of specialty and subspecialty training.
- Post-training experience required.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in Medina. The role operates within a hospital setting, contributing to the critical care services provided by King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre.
