About the Role
United Group is seeking a Logistics Planner to manage the end-to-end flow of imported grains in Yanbu Al Sinaiyah, Al Madinah. This full-time role is critical for optimizing grain delivery from vessel arrival to final distribution, focusing on cost efficiency and capacity utilization. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Role Purpose and Scope
The Logistics Planner is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive plans for grain discharge, storage allocation, and headhouse loading. The primary objective is to ensure the lowest total delivery cost while maintaining full and safe utilization of storage and loading infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare discharge plans for grain vessels based on ETA, cargo quantity, berth windows, and available storage.
- Recommend vessel discharge sequences, considering cost and storage impact, for approval by the President of United Grains.
- Coordinate with terminal operations to minimize vessel time at berth and prevent demurrage.
- Plan the allocation of incoming grains across silos and flat storages to maximize capacity and avoid congestion.
- Maintain daily stock positions by silo, station, and flat storage, including quantity, vessel/lot, and age of stock.
- Plan stock rotation (first-in, first-out) and grain transfers to protect quality and limit losses.
- Schedule headhouse loading points to align with station demand, truck availability, and stock levels.
- Balance loading between silo and flat-storage sources to maximize headhouse throughput and minimize truck waiting time.
- Plan barley deliveries to meet demand and target stock cover at the lowest total landed cost.
- Optimize the cost chain from vessel to station, encompassing demurrage, handling, storage, shifting, and transport costs.
- Report cost per ton delivered by station and propose actions for cost reduction.
Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Publish daily and weekly reports on vessel line-up, discharge status, storage and headhouse utilization, and station stock.
- Ensure accuracy of ERP data.
- Identify and drive improvements in discharge rates, storage utilization, and delivery cost.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in logistics planning or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex logistical flows and optimize costs.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in Yanbu Al Sinaiyah, Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The role requires coordination with various operational teams and stakeholders to achieve logistical objectives.
