The Platform Engineer Role

The Platform Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure platforms. This role is critical for ensuring system reliability, availability, and disaster recovery capabilities, thereby supporting business-critical applications and services. This is a full-time position based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide recommendations for infrastructure and server hardware specifications during procurement processes.
• Participate in the evaluation and selection of servers, storage, and infrastructure solutions.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools utilizing approved IT automation platforms.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security, providing actionable insights and generating performance reports.
• Oversee hardware delivery processes, including inventory control and installation readiness.
• Provision and manage infrastructure components such as servers, storage, networking, and cloud environments.
• Understand data center requirements for hosting infrastructure and ensure proper deployment readiness.
• Gather and analyze business requirements to define optimal infrastructure specifications and configurations.
• Develop and execute installation and configuration plans for servers and platform components, including OS installation, patching, and software configuration aligned with best practices.
• Perform performance tuning and optimization of platform components and recommend upgrades or improvements.
• Ensure compliance with security standards, policies, and audit requirements, implementing access control, system hardening, and vulnerability management.
• Implement and maintain data backup solutions and disaster recovery processes, ensuring data integrity, backup validation, and recovery readiness.
• Develop scripts using PowerShell, Bash, and Python to automate deployment, monitoring, and operational tasks, improving system efficiency.
• Provide ongoing support for infrastructure systems, resolve incidents, and participate in root cause analysis and preventive action implementation.
• Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations and changes, preparing reports on system performance, incidents, and capacity utilization.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or system administration.

Essential Skills and Expertise

• Proficiency in managing diverse infrastructure components, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of data center requirements and deployment best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute installation and configuration plans.
• Experience with operating system installation, patching, and software configuration.
• Competence in monitoring system performance, availability, and security.
• Advanced scripting skills in languages such as PowerShell, Bash, and Python for automation.
• Knowledge of security standards, access control, system hardening, and vulnerability management.
• Experience with data backup solutions and disaster recovery processes.
