Cost Accountant

About the Role

Virtucruit is partnering with a leading mining company in Saudi Arabia to appoint a Cost Accountant for the Drilling Department. This full-time position is based in Najran and involves developing, maintaining, and monitoring the company's cost accounting system. The role ensures accurate costing of drilling operations, inventory, equipment maintenance, workshops, and support services.

Role Purpose and Contribution

The Cost Accountant provides management with timely and reliable cost analysis, variance reports, budgeting support, and financial insights. This is crucial for improving operational efficiency and profitability. The role also ensures compliance with IFRS, company policies, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the highest level of safety, health, and environmental work standards are maintained.
• Develop and maintain the company's cost accounting system.
• Monitor and analyze drilling project, rig, and equipment costs.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, variance analysis, and profitability reports.
• Monitor inventory valuation, material consumption, and stock reconciliations.
• Ensure accurate allocation of direct and indirect costs.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning.
• Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
• Maintain cost centers, project costing, and inventory costing in Sage 300 ERP.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, and internal controls.
• Support internal and external audits by providing costing schedules and reconciliations.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements.
• Coordinate with Operations, Procurement, Warehouse, and Maintenance to ensure accurate cost reporting.
• Prepare management reports and financial analysis for decision-making.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, preferably within a mining or similar industrial environment.
