Drill Fitters/ Mechanical Technician

About the Role

Virtucruit is seeking a Drill Fitter/Mechanical Technician to join a leading mining company in Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is based in Najran, specifically within the Al Joshwan mountain range at an elevation of 1,750m above sea level. The role involves maintenance activities for exploration drill rigs, focusing on troubleshooting, repair, and installation to minimize downtime and enhance rig productivity.

Department and Reporting Structure

This position is within the Exploration Drilling Department and reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining high performance standards and delivering quality test results in a demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the highest level of safety, health, and environmental work standards are maintained.
• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on Surface and Underground exploration drill rigs, including Epiroc Boyles and Diamec PHC models.
• Diagnose and repair complex electro-hydraulic faults on underground drill rigs.
• Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics and manuals.
• Conduct regular inspections of drilling equipment to identify potential issues and perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
• Utilize power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment to fabricate or repair components.
• Operate computerized testing equipment to identify faults and ensure equipment performance.
• Provide technical feedback to planners and reliability engineers to improve maintenance strategies and documentation.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and work hours.
• Ensure all maintenance and repairs are performed in line with company safety standards and OEM specifications.
• Support the development and training of local nationals through mentorship, guidance, and coaching.

Qualifications and Experience

• A highly motivated individual with a strong background as a Drill Rig Mechanic.
• Experience required: 5-10 years in a relevant role.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and install parts on drilling equipment.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical schematics and manuals.
