About the Role

Acwa is seeking a CCR Operator I to join its operations team in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is for an experienced professional with 5-10 years in plant operations, focusing on the critical monitoring and control of unit parameters and coordinating operational activities.

Role Purpose

The CCR Operator I is responsible for the continuous monitoring and control of plant or unit operational parameters from the Central Control Room. This role requires proactive engagement and close coordination with other operators to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations, and maintain familiarity with fire equipment within the operational area.
  • Understand plant P&IDs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, Operation and Control Logics, and Emergency Operation Procedures.
  • Monitor all unit parameters, record periodic readings on log sheets, and summarize all shift activities and events in the log book.
  • Follow instructions from the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor, and coordinate effectively with other operators regarding all activities.
  • Maintain vigilance and take prompt, decisive actions during abnormal operating conditions.
  • Coordinate and ensure proper Lock Out & Tag Out (LOTO) procedures during equipment isolation for maintenance, adhering strictly to approved Permit To Work procedures. Normalize equipment as instructed after cancellation.
  • Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift to confirm all equipment parameters are within specified limits, reporting any abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor or SCE.
  • Perform periodic protection tests under the supervision of the SCE/Supervisor and maintain accurate records. Execute equipment changeovers according to preset schedules.
  • Raise work requests or defect notes for faulty equipment and follow up on defect rectification.
  • Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
  • Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
  • Report deviations in the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System.
  • Ensure proper waste disposal measures are followed.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in plant or unit operations, preferably in a Central Control Room environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of operational procedures, safety protocols, and control systems relevant to power or water desalination plants.

This full-time role demands a high level of vigilance, attention to detail, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure. The CCR Operator I will work as part of a dedicated shift team, requiring strong communication and coordination skills to maintain operational integrity.
