About the Role

Amazon is seeking an Assistant Category Manager for Amazon Now to join the MENA Grocery team (UFG) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on building new business from the ground up within a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the way customers engage with grocery services.

Role Context and Objectives

This position involves building new business from scratch, requiring a self-starter who can quickly adapt to a dynamic environment, establish trust with cross-functional teams, and take ownership within the program. The role demands an understanding of complex business, technology, and operations processes at Amazon and with partners, along with the ability to devise optimal engagement models. Success in this role requires high judgment, analytical talent, and strong document writing skills with concise communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Category leaders in driving new strategic initiatives and business opportunities.
• Negotiate and establish strategic partnerships, aligning and closing end-to-end vendor relationships and terms of trade, including operating model contracts for long shelf-life fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Develop the annual seasonal portfolio to drive continuous traffic and engagement to the storefront.
• Identify automation opportunities to offer scalable solutions and improve key input metrics such as selection, profitability, pricing, and availability.
• Manage the P&L post-launch to achieve top and bottom-line targets, and lead projects to enhance profitability with critical stakeholders (Vendor, Operations, Advertising).
• Define selection assortment and continuously refine the mix at the dark store level to reduce shrinkage and improve customer experience.
• Source deals during Tier 1/2 events to ensure value offerings for Prime Customers.
• Negotiate marketing funds from vendors for category visibility during business-as-usual periods and events.
• Prepare, pitch, and finalize Annual Joint Business Plans (JBPs).

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 0-1 year of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, managing ambiguity and competing priorities.
• Strong judgment, analytical capabilities, and effective document writing skills with concise communication.
• Experience in influencing internal and external stakeholders and leadership.
• Proven track record in project delivery, commercial negotiations, and relationship management.
• Deep analytical acumen and business judgment.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, demanding, and ambiguous environment.

Work Environment

This is an external-facing role that involves close collaboration with external vendors to build seasonal selection and manage long shelf-life Fresh/Frozen space. The position offers the potential to build the Amazon Ultra-Fast-Grocery (UFG) Retail business from scratch and define Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for long-term business scaling. The role requires interaction with multiple stakeholders including marketing, marketplace, legal, supply chain, and operations teams.
