About the Role

Saudi Gold Refinery Co. (SGR) is seeking a Compliance Officer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is essential for maintaining the integrity of our refining and bullion operations by focusing on anti-money laundering, supply chain due diligence, and regulatory adherence. The Compliance Officer will ensure SGR meets its obligations under Saudi law and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Compliance Officer will execute monitoring activities and ensure regulatory adherence through the following responsibilities:

  • Review customer and supplier due diligence files to ensure completeness of KYC documentation and beneficial ownership identification.
  • Screen transactions against sanctions lists and high-risk jurisdiction indicators using approved compliance software tools.
  • Execute scheduled compliance tests on vault access logs, weight certificates, and assay records to detect control deviations.
  • Document findings from compliance tests and follow up with process owners to implement corrective actions within specified deadlines.
  • Support internal and external auditors by retrieving requested documents and explaining compliance processes during fieldwork.
  • Maintain a centralized repository of all licenses, permits, and regulatory correspondence for immediate availability during inspections.
  • Update standard operating procedures to reflect changes in national laws and international precious metals standards.
  • Deliver targeted training sessions to employees on anti-bribery, conflict of interest, and whistleblowing policies.
  • Log all reported compliance breaches or suspicious activities into the central register for tracking and analysis.
  • Support preliminary fact-finding investigations by gathering relevant transaction data and interview notes under supervision.
  • Assist in the annual risk assessment of the supply chain to align with LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance and OECD standards.
  • Analyze historical compliance data to identify emerging trends and areas of heightened risk.
  • Liaise with external legal advisors to clarify interpretations of new regulatory directives.

Performance Metrics

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • 100% completion of scheduled compliance tests with reports delivered within five business days.
  • Zero major non-conformities in external audits related to compliance scope during the performance period.
  • Resolution of 90% of identified compliance incidents within the agreed remediation timeframe.
  • Renewal of all regulatory licenses and permits at least 30 days before expiration dates.
  • Completion of monthly transaction screening reviews within three business days of month-end.
  • Publication of compliance policy updates within 14 days of relevant regulatory changes.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in a relevant compliance role. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of anti-money laundering regulations, supply chain due diligence, and international precious metals standards.
