About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant – Pulmonology to provide specialized pulmonology care on a part-time, in-person basis in Riyadh. This role focuses on evaluating, diagnosing, and managing a broad range of acute and chronic respiratory and pulmonary disorders within the ICC physical clinic. The consultant will deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care during scheduled sessions, ensuring continuity of care and effective disease management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive, in-person pulmonology care during scheduled part-time clinic sessions, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
  • Conduct thorough clinical evaluations, including history taking, physical examination, and review of relevant pulmonary function tests, imaging, and laboratory findings.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, encompassing medication management, inhaler technique optimization, lifestyle interventions, and referrals for procedures or specialist input.
  • Manage complex pulmonology conditions such as asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, sleep-disordered breathing, and chronic cough, ensuring care coordination with the full-time clinical team.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including radiology, sleep medicine, and physiotherapy, to provide integrated patient-centered care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EHR to support seamless handover and continuity of care.
  • Promote respiratory health through preventive care, including smoking cessation counseling, vaccination guidance, and chronic disease management, applying population health and value-based care principles.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, providing clear guidance on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards, maintaining accurate and complete medical documentation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based pulmonology practice and in-clinic regulations through continuous professional development.
  • Contribute to clinical governance by participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and regulatory compliance programs.

Professional Development

  • Continuously enhance clinical knowledge in pulmonology and best practices for in-person care.
  • Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) activities.
  • Integrate the latest clinical evidence into practice to improve the quality, safety, and effectiveness of patient care.

Patient Safety and Satisfaction

  • Uphold high standards of patient safety by delivering evidence-based care and adhering to established clinical safety protocols.
  • Identify, report, and escalate patient safety risks, incidents, and quality concerns.
  • Counsel patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, potential adverse effects, and follow-up care.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered consultations through effective communication, comprehensive clinical assessment, empathy, and shared decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in Pulmonology.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems for efficient and well-documented consultations.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and support junior physicians.
