About the Role
Red Sea Global is seeking a Director - Purchasing to lead the centralized purchasing department for its specialized supply chain and logistics subsidiary, Red Sea Coastal Trading Company. This full-time role focuses on managing strategic procurement activities across various categories, including F&B, equipment, consumables, and services required for operations. The position is based in Umluj and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Red Sea Coastal Trading Company is designed to facilitate the seamless delivery of materials, equipment, and services across Red Sea Global's pioneering developments. Operating at the heart of Saudi Arabia’s regenerative tourism projects, the subsidiary delivers end-to-end supply chain management, encompassing procurement support, transportation coordination, inventory and warehouse management, and last-mile logistics. The team ensures that every link in the supply chain supports Red Sea Global’s commitment to sustainability, operational excellence, and local value creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and execute comprehensive purchasing strategies.
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
- Forecast price and market trends to identify changes in buyer-supplier power.
- Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
- Manage the quotation process for items exceeding policy thresholds, ensuring a minimum of three independent quotations.
- Establish contracts to ensure negotiated prices are available for all operating items.
- Oversee daily market list procurement and delivery arrangements.
- Ensure timely updates of order receiving dates by buyers and dispatch of authorized purchase orders to suppliers.
- Verify that quotations are regularly updated and supplier’s current price lists are maintained.
- Research and identify new products and services in the market.
- Check, explain, and approve delivered item discrepancy reports regarding price and quantity variances.
- Approve additional requests for storeroom items, verifying descriptions, units, packing, and categories, and establishing Min/Max estimated stock levels.
- Verify the 'pending orders' report daily and ensure regular checks.
- Identify items for standing orders, utilizing vendor logistics for regular deliveries.
- Ensure validity of items, manage obsolete stock, and follow up on disposal actions.
- Maintain and file all documentation and proper quotations according to Policy and Procedure requirements.
- Build and lead a high-performing procurement and category management team, defining capability requirements and coaching team members.
- Create a performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and business impact.
- Ensure the efficient operation of the Purchasing Department in all aspects and submit reports in a timely manner.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 12 years of procurement and supply chain experience.
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership or director-level role.
- Experience managing large procurement spend across multiple categories (Direct & Indirect).
- Demonstrated experience within FMCG, Hospitality, Retail, Distribution, Industrial, Construction, or similar large-scale environments.
Required Skills and Expertise
- Proficiency in developing procurement strategies and category management frameworks.
- Strong sourcing and contract negotiation experience.
- Experience implementing procurement policies, governance, and controls.
- Expertise in supplier relationship management and supplier performance improvement.
- Capability in spend analysis, cost optimization, and savings delivery.
- Experience with procurement transformation and process improvement initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders (Finance, Operations, Commercial, Legal, Logistics).

The role requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule to ensure all major responsibilities and tasks are accomplished effectively. The Director will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient operation of the Purchasing Department.
