The Opportunity: Environment Engineer

IC İçtaş Construction is seeking an experienced Environment Engineer to join its team for a significant road project located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is focused on ensuring environmental compliance and sustainability throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor environmental management plans (EMP) in compliance with project requirements, local regulations, and international environmental standards.
• Ensure project activities adhere to environmental permits, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
• Monitor environmental aspects of construction activities, including air quality, noise, vibration, water quality, waste management, and soil protection.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and site assessments to identify potential risks and ensure ongoing compliance.
• Prepare environmental reports, compliance documentation, incident investigations, and corrective action plans.
• Develop and implement programs for waste management, pollution prevention, erosion control, and overall sustainability.
• Coordinate environmental monitoring activities and evaluate data related to dust emissions, wastewater management, noise levels, and environmental performance indicators.
• Support environmental impact assessments (EIA), environmental studies, and regulatory submissions as required.
• Provide environmental training and awareness programs for project staff, subcontractors, and workers.
• Coordinate with government authorities, consultants, clients, and other stakeholders on environmental matters.
• Support ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), sustainability, biodiversity protection, and environmental improvement initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
• Investigate environmental incidents and non-conformities, ensuring the effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental management, specifically within large-scale infrastructure, highway, transportation, or construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance requirements, and environmental management systems.
• Demonstrated experience in environmental monitoring programs, waste management, pollution control, and sustainability practices.

Required Skills and Expertise

• Familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and environmental auditing processes.
• Knowledge of environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedures and environmental risk management.
• Strong reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Previous project experience in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia is highly preferred.
