The Expo 2030 Riyadh Project

This full-time role is integral to the Expo 2030 Riyadh project, a global platform for collaboration under the theme “Foresight for Tomorrow.” The event, scheduled from October 2030 to March 2031, is expected to attract over 40 million visits. Bechtel is responsible for managing the infrastructure program for the 6 km2 Masterplan, which includes early works, utilities, and publicly accessible spaces such as streets and parks. Following the six-month event, the project will transition into a mixed-use legacy development.

Role Overview: HSE / Environmental Engineer Night Shift

Bechtel Corporation is seeking an HSE / Environmental Engineer Night Shift to join its team in Riyadh. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing contractor environmental compliance and ensuring that all construction activities are implemented in strict accordance with Expo 2030 Environmental Codes of Practice, environmental permits, applicable regulations, and project sustainability requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and verify contractor compliance with environmental requirements and approved management plans.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and site assessments.
• Review environmental documentation, including Environmental Management Systems (EMS), Contractor Environmental and Social Management Plans (CESMP), Waste Management Plans, Dust Management Plans, and monitoring reports.
• Monitor environmental performance related to waste management, air quality, dust control, hazardous materials, wastewater, noise, and biodiversity.
• Investigate environmental incidents, track corrective and preventive actions, and support the closure of non-conformances.
• Prepare environmental reports, compliance dashboards, and performance summaries for project management and the client.
• Provide environmental guidance, support training activities, and participate in coordination meetings with contractors and stakeholders.

Candidate Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance within construction projects.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 14001, Saudi environmental regulations, and environmental management systems.

Employment Details

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, operating on a night shift schedule. The role requires candidates with 5 to 10 years of professional experience in the field of environmental compliance for construction projects. Salary information will be disclosed during the interview process.
