About SiFi and the Senior Data Engineer Role

SiFi is developing a corporate expense management platform designed to streamline financial operations for businesses. The platform empowers accounting teams with control over corporate spending by enabling companies to issue cards with specific spending restrictions, ensuring efficient fund utilization and adherence to approved expenses. As SiFi scales, trusted data serves as a core infrastructure component, powering financial correctness, operational visibility, and AI-powered automation.

Role Overview and Strategic Impact

SiFi is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Data & AI) to define and scale the foundation of its data platform. This full-time role, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, involves being a key member of the Data & AI team. The Senior Data Engineer will partner with Finance, Product, Engineering, Operations, and Compliance departments. This is a high-ownership position focused on building financial data infrastructure from first principles, with the primary responsibility of designing and owning the data platform, modeling standards, and AI-ready infrastructure to ensure metrics are accurate, scalable, and trusted across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Senior Data Engineer include:

  • Defining and maintaining scalable data models in SQL.
  • Establishing structured warehouse layers and data modeling best practices.
  • Owning KPI definitions and ensuring a single source of truth for financial correctness and metric consistency.
  • Designing and evolving the cloud data warehouse, specifically in BigQuery.
  • Managing transformation workflows using tools such as dbt or SQLMesh.
  • Optimizing data warehouse performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Designing and supporting production-grade AI/ML pipelines, ensuring model performance, data integrity, and compliance.
  • Ensuring data quality, integrity, and observability across the platform.
  • Implementing access controls aligned with compliance requirements.
  • Building a scalable foundation for advanced analytics and AI initiatives.
  • Translating business requirements into robust data systems.
  • Enabling trusted reporting and Business Intelligence (BI) across various teams.
  • Supporting experimentation and AI-driven initiatives with well-structured datasets.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering.
  • Strong expertise in SQL with practical data modeling experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud data warehouses, specifically BigQuery.
  • Experience with modern data transformation frameworks such as dbt or SQLMesh.
  • Ability to operate independently within a fast-moving startup environment.
  • High agency in taking end-to-end ownership of complex problems and delivering outcomes.

Preferred Skills

The following experience is considered a strong advantage for this role:

  • Experience building or supporting production-grade AI/ML pipelines.

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Relocation support is available for eligible candidates.
