Senior FLS Engineer (Saudi National)

About the Role

Parsons is seeking a Senior FLS Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on ensuring the operational readiness, code compliance, and continuous reliability of all fire protection and life safety (FLS) systems across city assets, public realms, and infrastructure. The Senior FLS Engineer will manage the transition of FLS systems from construction handover to long-term operations, ensuring public safety and compliance with local and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM), corrective maintenance, and testing of active and passive FLS systems.
• Manage fire suppression, fire alarms, smoke control, emergency lighting, and voice evacuation systems across various city zones.
• Lead technical investigations into system faults, false alarms, or equipment failures, and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Review and sign off on FLS as-built drawings, cause-and-effect matrices, and operations manuals during the testing and commissioning phase.
• Identify, log, and track FLS-related defects during the warranty period, ensuring contractor resolution without impacting city operations.
• Ensure all facility modifications and operations comply with the local Building Code, Civil Defence regulations, and NFPA standards.
• Manage and approve high-risk operational permits, including hot work and temporary impairments to the city's fire protection networks.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for local Civil Defence inspectors during routine audits or emergency planning.
• Conduct regular fire risk assessments (FRA) across public spaces, commercial zones, and infrastructure assets.
• Support the emergency management team in designing and executing crowd management plans, evacuation drills, and business continuity strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in fire protection and life safety engineering.
• Demonstrated expertise in FLS system reliability, maintenance, and compliance.
• Familiarity with local Building Codes, Civil Defence regulations, and NFPA standards.

Work Environment

This position is based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and operates on a full-time basis.
