About the Senior Public Health Engineer Role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Public Health Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves leading the design, coordination, review, and delivery of public health engineering systems for various building projects. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with local authority regulations, international standards, sustainability requirements, and overall project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake independent design of Public Health Services, GAS, and Fire Protection systems for international projects.
• Prepare technical markups and sketches for BIM team modelling.
• Represent AtkinsRéalis in meetings with clients and contractors.
• Liaise with local statutory authorities.
• Produce technical reports, design calculations using industry-standard software, and technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES.
• Maintain project records and archives to company standards.
• Manage personal workload and oversee the workload of others.
• Prepare and manage project budgets.
• Engage in multi-discipline coordination and workshops.
• Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes are incorporated into designs.
• Raise enquiries during PHE, Fire, and Gas design development.
• Review and develop established standard details and specifications in line with current market trends.
• Manage the production of standard PHE, Fire, and Gas details and specifications.
• Oversee resource management across the PHE, Fire, and Gas package.
• Contribute to strategic technical decision-making.
• Assume technical responsibility for the quality of PHE, Fire, and Gas design deliverables.

Qualifications and Professional Requirements

• Minimum BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institute.
• Over 10 years of industry experience post-qualification.
• Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards Membership of IPA, CIBSE, NFPA, or similar professional bodies.
• Significant experience working in a design consultancy, particularly within the Middle East.
• Proven experience delivering projects in conjunction with remote design centres.
• Demonstrated experience as a designer and technical authority in a design consultancy, applying broad professional knowledge and experienced judgment.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

• Exceptional knowledge of local and international codes and regulations relevant to design consultancy work.
• High level of technical skill in Public Health Services and Fire Protection Systems design.
• Ability to develop technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES.
• Proficiency in Windows, Revit, Revisto, HASS, HEVACOMP, Navis work, and Microsoft packages, with an understanding of the BIM process.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of expressing technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to innovate new solutions and apply existing solutions to problems.
• Capable of making decisions, acting on own initiative, and operating proactively.
• Good report writing skills and experience in making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
• Awareness of commercial processes required for Change Control system administration.
• Strong team management and leadership qualities.
• Wider knowledge of integrated design and collaboration with other disciplines is highly desirable.
