About the Role

Alrawaf Contracting is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Office Engineer Mechanical Design to join our construction team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves significant experience in mechanical design, technical office activities, MEP construction, HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and engineering coordination within the construction sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications, contract documents, drawings, and design requirements.
  • Develop and review mechanical designs for HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems.
  • Perform and review mechanical calculations, including cooling/heating loads, equipment sizing, duct sizing, chilled water and hydronic piping, domestic water demand, drainage, and firefighting hydraulics.
  • Prepare design layouts, schematics, equipment schedules, and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with project requirements, codes, and authority regulations.
  • Prepare, review, and approve mechanical shop drawings and coordinated MEP drawings.
  • Review subcontractor and supplier drawings, calculations, material submittals, and technical documents.
  • Prepare and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information) and technical queries.
  • Review and resolve technical issues raised by construction/site teams.
  • Prepare method statements, technical reports, material submittals, and other engineering documentation.
  • Review and comment on as-built drawings, ensuring accurate technical information.
  • Assist in preparing variation orders, technical proposals, and change documentation.

Design and Site Coordination

  • Coordinate mechanical works with architectural, structural, electrical, and other MEP disciplines.
  • Participate in design coordination and clash detection meetings.
  • Review BIM/3D coordination models to identify potential clashes before site execution.
  • Coordinate MEP services with structural elements, ceilings, shafts, plant rooms, and architectural requirements.
  • Provide technical support to site engineers and construction teams.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify installations comply with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in resolving construction and installation problems, reviewing proposed technical solutions for constructability.
  • Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers on technical matters.
  • Participate in testing, commissioning, inspection, and handover activities.

Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure mechanical designs and installations comply with applicable Saudi and international standards, project specifications, and approved drawings.
  • Support the QA/QC team in resolving mechanical quality issues and NCRs.
  • Review inspection and testing requirements for mechanical systems.
  • Ensure engineering documents are properly controlled and updated.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-10 years of practical experience in design and construction projects within KSA.
  • Strong understanding of Saudi building codes, international standards, and project specifications.
  • Proven experience in MEP construction and mechanical design.
  • Experience working for a main contractor or large MEP contractor.
  • Experience with major projects in Saudi Arabia.
  • Experience in design review, shop drawing preparation, and technical coordination.
  • Experience with BIM and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Experience dealing with consultants and client representatives.
  • Experience supporting procurement through technical evaluation of mechanical equipment and materials.
