Role Overview

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center (KFSH) in Riyadh is seeking a Staff Nurse I for a full-time position within Nursing Staffing & Scheduling. This role is central to delivering comprehensive nursing care by utilizing the nursing process and adhering to established standards of nursing practice and performance. The Staff Nurse I is also expected to demonstrate leadership competencies when assigned as a shift resource, team leader, or while in charge.

Core Nursing Responsibilities

  • Provide total patient care as assigned, in accordance with core standards of patient care, established policies, and evidence-based practices.
  • Assume accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, including comprehensive discharge planning for each patient.
  • Contribute to decreasing the length of patient stay and waiting times, aligning with unit-specific goals.
  • Collaborate effectively with Case Management to achieve patient care goals.

Quality, Safety, and Advocacy

  • Act as an advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs are represented.
  • Identify ideas that will improve the quality of patient care and recognize issues that could negatively affect patient care outcomes, applying the professional practice framework.
  • Promote a safe environment and safe patient care by embracing a safety culture and identifying areas of risk to the Head Nurse or designee.
  • Comply with all policies related to personal and patient safety, and for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Contribute to the achievement of clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction targets.
  • Lead unit-based Performance Improvement activities as assigned.

Operational and Collaborative Duties

  • Document all relevant patient information correctly, appropriately, and in a timely manner.
  • Report equipment failures, safety and security issues, and any reduction of supply inventory to the Head Nurse or designee.
  • Demonstrate collaborative multi-disciplinary partnerships, working towards constant improvement in quality patient care.
  • Contribute to the achievement of cost efficiency savings on the unit.
  • Maintain awareness of resource utilization, exercising care in the ordering and use of staff, equipment, and materials.
  • Follow all Hospital-related policies and procedures.

Professional Development and Mentorship

  • Participate in the orientation of new staff and nursing students, aimed at developing their competence and performance.
  • Assist in maintaining a suitable learning environment and act as a preceptor or mentor in the supervision and teaching of nursing students and new staff.
  • Demonstrate transcultural principles in nursing practice.
  • Contribute to special projects and assignments linked to nursing strategic priorities and the professional practice model as assigned.
  • Assist in promoting and sharing knowledge via mentorship, in line with relevant research and evidence-based practice.
  • Participate in self and other's education, training, and development, as applicable.

Qualifications and Work Environment

Candidates for this full-time Staff Nurse I position should possess 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in nursing. The role is based at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center in Riyadh, operating within a comprehensive healthcare environment dedicated to high standards of patient care.
