The Ar Rjum Project is a greenfield gold development located within the Central Arabian Gold Region. This project encompasses three open-pit mining operations, associated waste dumps and ore stockpiles, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and comprehensive supporting infrastructure. The site is situated approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh, and about 26 km south of Al Mouwayh.

The Role: Field Engineering Piping

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Field Engineering Piping professional to manage construction engineering tasks and activities within the Mechanical and Piping discipline. This full-time role requires adherence to relevant codes and standards, focusing on the installation and testing of commodities through turnover to Startup/Commissioning. The Field Engineer is responsible for developing work plans, coordinating materials, performing and documenting inspections, ensuring safety and quality control, reporting progress, and resolving design and construction conflicts. The position demands strong planning, organizational skills, the ability to conduct detailed inspections, and the capacity to produce accurate, clear, and concise documentation, including interpreting design and vendor drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues related to commodity installations and work sequencing.
  • Establish and maintain a piping design/field engineering working relationship and communication lines with the Project Engineer, including agreement on piping engineering deliverables and overall construction application configuration management.
  • Specify piping criteria for the construction of temporary construction facilities as required.
  • Provide field engineering support and assistance to superintendents and supporting personnel to meet cost and time schedules.
  • Verify materials, equipment, and quality, ensuring results meet design requirements.
  • Develop work plans, coordinate material take-offs and requisitions, perform and document inspections, report progress, and resolve conflicts in design and construction related to the installation and testing of mechanical commodities.
  • Assure procedural compliance, material control, and complete and thorough documentation of inspections for completed work.
  • Direct or perform preparation of quantity listings of field-purchased material and equipment and initiate requisitions for field material purchases.
  • Support preparation of construction drawings and schedules, design of temporary construction facilities, and ensure preparation of as-built drawings and other job plans.
  • Support planning and delivery of construction materials and equipment, ensuring proper warehousing and storage for environmental protection.
  • Review specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to assist and advise on site.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related subject from an accredited university, combined with 10 years of progressive construction or mechanical engineering experience.
  • Alternatively, 15 years of relevant experience in the MENA region with a sound understanding of cultural norms and requirements may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Physical ability to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs, which may involve extensive walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding, using fall protection and PPE, walking on elevated platforms and uneven surfaces, and maneuvering in confined spaces.
  • Strong English language communication and report writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a team-oriented approach, and a commitment to knowledge sharing.
  • Ability to solve problems through lateral thinking and understanding client/entity needs for technical compliance and training.
  • Capacity to work within and manage challenging multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams.
  • Self-driven and capable of planning and executing work without direct supervision.

Required Knowledge and Technical Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of all phases of engineering, design, construction, and field activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Design Suite software programs.
  • Experience with 3D and 4D modeling software.
  • Knowledge and application of the Zero Accident Safety Philosophy.
  • Broad knowledge of Construction Standard Work Process Procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of current industry standards.
  • Broad knowledge of Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) handbook, Supervisors ES&H Manual, Project Safety Management Plan, and Bechtel Core Processes relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of company and project quality policies.

Project Location and Work Type

This full-time position is based within the Central Arabian Gold Region, near Taif and Riyadh. The role requires on-site presence to support the Ar Rjum Project operations.
