Job Description

About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing to shape and execute the overall marketing strategy. This full-time role involves communicating the strategy to the marketing team and other business units, coordinating with sales management to align strategies, and evaluating past programs to develop new initiatives for generating tours and achieving goals. The Assistant Director will also participate in performance management, coaching, recruiting, and selection of the marketing workforce, and develop compensation plans to maximize productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans, including budget considerations, site goals, and forecasts.
  • Ensure consistency in pricing and communications regarding previews across all channels.
  • Develop tour generation program initiatives, such as owner referral programs, off-site locations, and travel partner promotions.
  • Analyze competitive intelligence to enhance current and future marketing strategies.
  • Manage and implement the appropriate marketing mix to achieve overall marketing cost objectives.
  • Oversee the sales floor to ensure efficient guest tour flow conducive to sales presentations.
  • Manage the activation process from the site's perspective, resolving challenges as they arise.
  • Monitor guest experience survey data, publish results, and follow up as needed.
  • Coordinate with marketing operations on new initiatives to increase production.
  • Develop strategies and incentive programs to meet or exceed budgeted numbers.
  • Identify trends when production is below budget and implement solutions.
  • Conduct performance and cost analysis of past programs/events and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Utilize reports on individual and team production performance (*, Confirmations-Experiences per guest, VPG, close rate).
  • Conduct competitive market analysis, including cost per tour and marketing cost by channel.
  • Monitor Budget versus Actual Results (BUVARS) and prepare summaries for management.
  • Negotiate contracts and work with vendors, ensuring partnerships drive sales.
  • Build and maintain relationships between sales management and the marketing department.
  • Share marketing information and strategy with the sales force.
  • Coordinate with sales management on guest eligibility issues and related trends.
  • Build partnerships with resort operations, hotel linkage, and OPC vendors.
  • Prepare for and conduct team meetings, measuring performance against goals.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring to team associates.
  • Reward and recognize associate performance and motivate associates to increase production.
  • Identify associate strengths and development opportunities through observation.
  • Develop and/or update sales training manuals and process enhancements.
  • Conduct formal performance reviews, create individual development plans, and manage associate performance.
  • Address associate needs, questions, and issues, and mediate conflicts within and between teams.
  • Provide guidelines for empowering associates regarding guest experience and service issues.
  • Deliver and coordinate various training programs.
  • Develop and review policies and procedures related to workflow, lead distribution, reward, recognition, and discipline.
  • Participate in recruiting and selection processes, including interviewing.
  • Develop compensation plans for marketing teams to maximize production.
  • Understand and adhere to state and federal regulations regarding marketing activity.
  • Update plans and actions for management meetings.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates will possess strong communication and customer service skills, as the role involves close contact with the general public in sales and marketing situations. Adaptability to different cultural contexts based on location is required. Candidates must be willing to work weekends and holidays as business needs dictate. A minimum of 5-10 years of experience is expected for this role.
