Biomedical Technician

About the Role

Al Salama Hospital is seeking a Biomedical Technician to join their team. This full-time role involves performing essential maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety inspections of medical equipment to ensure its safe and reliable operation. The technician will provide technical support while adhering to manufacturer requirements, hospital policies, and patient safety standards. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and functional testing of medical equipment according to approved schedules and manufacturer guidelines.
• Conduct equipment calibration, maintain accurate calibration records, and escalate performance issues to the Biomedical Engineering Supervisor.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot medical equipment faults, perform corrective maintenance, and repair equipment within authorized technical scope.
• Respond promptly to urgent equipment failures and escalate complex technical issues requiring specialist or vendor intervention.
• Conduct electrical, mechanical, functional, and safety inspections of medical equipment, identifying and reporting unsafe or malfunctioning devices.
• Ensure equipment passes all required safety and performance tests before returning to clinical use and report equipment-related incidents through approved channels.
• Provide technical support and basic demonstrations to clinical departments on medical equipment operation and assist healthcare professionals with technical issues.
• Coordinate with authorized service providers and external vendors as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, inspections, testing, and calibration, ensuring proper documentation of work orders.
• Update equipment information, including location, operational status, condition, and maintenance history, and maintain equipment manuals and service records.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, manufacturer requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations.
• Maintain documentation for CBAHI, JCI, MOH, and internal audits, and participate in quality improvement and risk management activities.
• Adhere to infection prevention, environmental safety, confidentiality, and workplace safety requirements.

Experience Required

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in a relevant biomedical technician role, demonstrating proficiency in medical equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
