Role Summary

The Cook Lead is a full-time position based in the Red Sea region, responsible for ensuring that The Ritz-Carlton's gold standards are met in daily culinary operations. This role involves preparing and cooking food according to established recipes and quality standards, while also assisting management in various team development activities. The Cook Lead will contribute to maintaining excellence in guest care and comfort through meticulous food preparation and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare special meals or replace products as required.
  • Regulate the temperature of ovens, grills, and roasters.
  • Manage food thawing processes by removing items from the freezer to the refrigerator.
  • Ensure proper food portions, distribution, and presentation.
  • Maintain accurate food records.
  • Control the quality and quantity of food prepared.
  • Communicate any necessary assistance during peak periods.
  • Inform the head chef of excess food products for daily specials.
  • Advise Food and Beverage service staff about rejected products and special menu items.
  • Prepare and cook food in adherence to recipes, quality standards, presentation guidelines, and food preparation checklists.
  • Prepare cold dishes.
  • Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees, serving as a role model.
  • Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures, report accidents and unsafe conditions, and complete required safety training.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance, ensure confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
  • Anticipate and address guests' service needs using clear and professional language.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships, support team goals, and respond appropriately to colleagues' concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with quality expectations and standards.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 25 pounds or less without assistance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: A technical, trade, or vocational school degree is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of related work experience is necessary.
  • Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience is required for this role.
  • Certifications: No specific license or certification is required.
