The Role of Drilling Foreman

Saudi Aramco is seeking a Drilling Foreman to join the Unconventional Resources Drilling Operations Division (URDOD) within the Unconventional Resources Drilling Department (URDD). This full-time position involves directing the drilling or workover of wells across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its territorial waters. The primary objective is to execute these operations efficiently, safely, and in adherence to accepted industry practices and specified well programs. These wells may be exploratory or development, focused on hydrocarbon deposits, primarily oil and gas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise operations on wells below 15,000 feet, or those complicated by pressure exceeding 10,000 psi, sour gas, high deviation, or costs over $10,000,000.
  • Maintain fiscal accountability for Saudi Aramco-owned equipment and materials.
  • Ensure timely communication with Drilling Operations headquarters and coordinate logistics for transportation, material movement, well services (Saudi Aramco and contractor supplied), water support, and roads/location support.
  • Perform Unit level supervisory functions at remote well locations on a 24-hour basis, following a 28 days on duty, 28 days off work schedule.
  • Direct all well operations efficiently, safely, and according to accepted industry practices as outlined in the well Drilling or Workover program issued by the Drilling Engineering Department.
  • Coordinate the timely ordering of necessary well materials, equipment, and services in line with the well program.
  • Document the receipt, usage, and transfer of Saudi Aramco supplied materials and equipment.
  • Review service company field tickets for accuracy of services provided and associated charges.
  • Ensure full compliance with Saudi Aramco Blowout Prevention Standards, including equipment configuration, testing, and crew response.
  • Assure that rig and personnel adhere to Saudi Aramco established safety standards and procedures.
  • For rigs contracted to Saudi Aramco, assure compliance with contract terms, conditions, and specified equipment/personnel.
  • Provide headquarters with a complete daily report of work progress as required in the Daily Morning Report.
  • Promote cost-saving ideas and awareness to optimize operations while safely meeting well objectives.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in drilling or workover operations. A key requirement is the ability to provide on-job training to less experienced drilling/workover personnel assigned to the rig.
