Electrical Engineer II

About the Role

Acwa is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for a full-time position. This role involves planning and supervising all maintenance activities for plant electrical equipment, including preventive and corrective maintenance, monthly/annual outages, and overhauling work. The Electrical Engineer will work under the direction of the Section Head, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to maintenance schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign preventive and corrective maintenance jobs as directed by the Section Head, supervising and coordinating the activities of maintenance staff.
• Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose correspondence related to work activities.
• Execute work orders through the CMMS (SAP) and coordinate with the planning engineer for job completion and technical matters.
• Ensure necessary communications and relations are maintained to report on the status of matters requiring action and to facilitate corrective measures.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager in executing corrective and planned maintenance in line with the annual scheduled maintenance plan.
• Perform technical evaluations of quotations received from the purchase department and recommend appropriate choices.
• Prepare purchase requisitions for spare parts and consumables, ensuring budgetary compliance and strategic spares availability to meet maintenance requirements.
• Review and recommend new maintenance procedures and work instructions.
• Supervise, direct, and coordinate the activities of all personnel assigned to the area.
• Ensure Environmental Aspect-Impact and Hazard Risk Assessments are carried out, controlled, and updated.
• Implement, monitor, and report on IMS objectives, targets, and programs, providing necessary resources for effective implementation and sustenance.
• Ensure legal, contractual, and organizational compliance within the scope of activities.
• Identify root causes for non-conformances/deviations and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Identify competency gaps for subordinate personnel and implement necessary actions, including annual performance evaluations and on-the-job training for new employees.
• Identify, document, and control hazards in the assigned work area, ensuring identified aspects are monitored and operational controls are followed.
• Report deviations in the Integrated Management System, emergencies, incidents, and near misses.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably within a plant maintenance environment.
• Proficiency in executing work orders through CMMS (SAP) is required.
• Strong understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance principles.
• Ability to perform technical evaluations and manage spare parts procurement.
• Experience with Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and environmental/safety compliance.

Work Environment

The role involves working near moving mechanical parts and in various outdoor weather conditions. Occasional exposure to high precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or chemical risks, and electrical shock may occur. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate but can be very loud at times.
