Job Description

About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, *** is seeking an Engineer III to join their team in the Red Sea region. This full-time role involves responding to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the proper functioning of hotel equipment and systems. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to and address guest repair requests with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues effectively.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Visually inspect and transport tools, equipment, or machines.
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and order parts and supplies as needed.
  • Ensure clear communication of daily activities and problems to employees on other shifts.
  • Perform highly complex repairs to physical property, electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration systems, and pool heaters, ensuring compliance with company standards and codes.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform basic repairs on various types of equipment, plumbing, and electrical components.
  • Train and guide other engineers as needed, and perform Engineer on Duty tasks including readings and rounds.

Technical Aptitude and Skills

  • Demonstrate advanced aptitude for reading basic blueprints and electrical diagrams related to plumbing and HVAC systems.
  • Possess above-average aptitude in engineering operations and solid general mechanical aptitude.
  • Exhibit good aptitude in at least three of the following categories, above-average in two or more, and basic in the rest: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy saving, and general building management.
  • Demonstrate solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and automatic tools.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs for preventive maintenance, energy management, and related systems.
  • Demonstrate advanced aptitude for diagnosing malfunctions of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.

  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance, protect company assets, and ensure the privacy of property information.

  • Cultivate positive working relationships and support team goals, communicating professionally with colleagues.
  • Perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds ( kg) or more with assistance, climbing stairs/ladders, and reaching overhead or below the knees.
  • Enter and locate work-related information using computers.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in hotel engineering/maintenance. Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electricity, or refrigeration; inventory and ordering parts; exterior and interior surface preparation and painting are preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent GED certificate, or vocational/technical training degree preferred.
  • Certifications: Valid driver's license and Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification are mandatory. Must meet all state and federal certification or licensing requirements.
